Penalties end Al Duhail Campaign in the Amir Cup 2025…

Al Duhail First Football Team suffered a loss in a penalty shootout to Al Rayyan with a score of 5-4 in the quarterfinal match of the Amir Cup. The match went into extra time after the 90 minutes and extra time ended in a 2-2 draw.

Al Duhail started the match with the following starting lineup:

Al Duhail took the lead first through Edmilson Junior with a wonderful shot from outside Al Rayyan penalty area in the 24th minute of the first half.

In the second half, specifically in the 57th minute of the match, Michael Olunga added Al-Duhail second goal with a curling shot from outside Al Rayyan’s penalty area that settled in the far bottom right corner of Al-Rayyan goal.

The 85th minute witnessed Al Rayyan striker Roger Guedes scoring to narrow the gap, before the same player returned to score his second and Al Rayyan second goal, equalizing in the eighth minute of added time. The match ended in a 2-2 draw, leading to extra time.

The two extra halves ended in a goalless draw, leaving the final result at the end of the original and extra time at a 2-2 tie. Both teams resorted to a penalty shootout, which decided Al Rayyan qualification to the semifinal round of the tournament.
