Al Duhail Aspirations Clash with Sepahan Hopes in Asian Playoff…

Al Duhail First Football Team will inaugurate their Asian campaign tomorrow evening, Tuesday, with a tough match versus their Iranian guest, Foolad Sepahan. The match, which will be held at Khalifa International Stadium, kicks off at 07:00 PM as part of the playoffs qualifying for the group stage of the AFC Champions League Elite.

After missing out on last season tournament for the first time since their promotion to the Stars League, Al Duhail “The Tornado” is looking to make a strong return to the continental stage against one of the most experienced teams in Asian competitions.

Al Duhail Asian journey began in 2012 after winning the Qatar Stars League for the first time. In their previous appearances, the team reached the quarterfinals on three occasions: in 2013, they were eliminated by Guangzhou of China; in 2015, they were knocked out by Al Hilal of Saudi Arabia; and in 2018, they fell to Persepolis of Iran. The 2018 campaign stands out as one of the Club most notable, as they achieved nine consecutive wins under the leadership of current head coach Djamel Belmadi.

Al Moez Ali leads the list of Al Duhail top goal-scorers in the AFC Champions League with 20 goals, which he scored during his previous appearances under the old format of the tournament.

From 2012 to 2024, Al Duhail participated in 12 editions of the tournament. This return, however, carries a special significance as the team enters this season competition with high ambitions under Belmadi’s leadership, hoping to advance to the group stage and reclaim their place among the continent top clubs.

The hearts of Al Duhail fans will be with the team tomorrow, awaiting a victory that will restore the Tornado to its Asian glory.
