Al Duhail First Football Team Head Coach Djamel Belmadi expressed his happiness at returning to Abu Dhabi to participate in the Qatar-UAE Super Cup (Challenge Shield), noting that the match holds great significance for the club.
Belmadi opened his remarks by saying: “It is an honor for me to return to Abu Dhabi and participate in this tournament. We faced Al Wahda previously in the AFC Champions League and lost at that time. Now, we meet again in a different competition and a different setting. This is a special tournament, and we have come here with the intent to win it.”
He added: “As I mentioned, we have played versus Al Wahda before and know them well. They have delivered impressive performances in the Champions League so far. This is a match that will be decided by small details, which can ultimately lead to either victory or defeat.”
Belmadi went on: “I don’t want to dwell on the match we lost against Al Wahda. However, as the coach, I will work hard to avoid the mistakes we made during that Champions League encounter. I will turn those negatives into positives to benefit the team and transform us into a side capable of competing for the title.”
He concluded his statements saying: “Al Wahda is a good team with quality players like Tadić. However, our focus is on ourselves. After missing out on some trophies recently, we are striving to return to the podium, win this title, and add it to the club honors. We must put in a great deal of effort to achieve that goal.”
