Al Duhail First Football Team secured a 2–0 victory over Al Sailiya in their opening-round match of the Doha Bank Stars League, played at Al Bayt Stadium.

Led by the Team Head Coach Djamel Belmadi, Al Duhail lined up with the following starting XI:
Salah Zakaria (GK, #1), Lucas Silva Melo (#3), Bassam Al Rawi (#5), Omar Sekou (#7), Mubarak Shanan (#8), Edmilson Junior (#10), Sultan Al Brake (#18), Al Moez Ali (#19), Jean-Victor Makengo (#21), Assim Madibo (#23), and Boubakary Soumaré (#24).

The first half ended goalless as Al Duhail struggled to break through Al Sailiya defensive lines.

The threat increased early in the second half. In the 55th minute, Al Moez Ali struck the post, missing Al Duhail clearest opportunity to that point.

The breakthrough came in the 62nd minute when Edmilson Junior scored Al Duhail first goal of the new season with a powerful strike from inside the penalty area, putting Al Tofan ahead.

Just four minutes later, in the 66th minute, Edmilson completed a well-crafted team move to double the lead and seal the upper hand for his side.

With no further changes to the scoreline in the remaining minutes, referee Abdulaziz Musa blew the final whistle, confirming Al Duhail victory and their first three points of the new Doha Bank Stars League campaign.
