Al-Ali: The fighting spirit led us to pass the group stage

Adnan Al-Ali, the executive director of the club, expressed his happiness with the win that the team achieved this evening over Al Taawun in the fifth round of the group stage of the AFC Champions League as well as leading group D and qualifying for the knockout round of 16.

Al-Ali said in a statement to the club’s official website after the end of the match: “I congratulate His Excellency Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad Al Thani, the club’s president, and Mr. Khalifa Khamis, the club’s vice-president, and all the team players and the technical and administrative staff on the win this evening over the Taawon team and for leading group D and for qualifying to the next stage of the competition after a strong and exciting match in which our players showed the fighting spirit until the final minute.”

Al-Ali added: “The match was not easy. Despite our progress through Boudiaf’s goal, Al-Taawoun was able to advance, but the determination of the players and their clear desire to win made us return to the match and win in the last minutes.”

Al-Ali continued: “Thank God for this victory, this performance, and the fighting spirit of the players despite the conditions of fasting and the annoying dates of matches, they overcame these conditions and succeeded in taking the lead. God willing, the team will continue with the same spirit in the next round and win in the upcoming matches.”
