Galtier: We know the importance of the match and we are capable of winning

Al Duhail Head Coach Christophe Galtier expressed his confidence in his players’ ability to continue achieving good results in their upcoming match versus Al Rayyan.

“We have prepared all of our international players, and even those who were not with their national teams have been training very well during the past period,” Galtier said in the pre-match press conference held at the club’s press conference hall on Thursday evening.

“We have conducted our main training session for Al Rayyan match, which everyone knows is important not only for us but for all Qatari league followers. Both teams have been competing obviously in the past seasons.”

“We know that Al Rayyan has some absences in midfield, but they are a good team, especially in attack. If we want to win, we have to give everything we have on the field and be at the top of our mental focus.”

The coach continued: “During the past period, we were waiting to achieve victory in the matches we played, which was not achieved except in our last match versus Al Shamal, but after that the competition stopped. The last victory is good for us morally, and the players must build on it to provide the required performance from them in the upcoming matches.”

Asked about the team’s ability to achieve a second victory over Al Rayyan, Galtier said: “Yes, we can manage that. I still remember our victory in the first leg and our return to the match after we came out behind in the first half by two goals without a response, but the players’ reaction in the second half made us return to the match and achieve victory.”

Regarding the team’s chances of reaching the top four, the coach said: “The team can reach the top four, but this matter does not depend on our results only, but on the results of other teams. In order for this to happen, we must be at our known performance and, as I spoke with the players previously, we must play with confidence and high physicality because all the remaining matches in the league are part of the preparation for the Amir Cup.
