Galtier: We did not deserve to lose and we lack accuracy in finishing offensive attempts…

Al Duhail Head Coach Christophe Galtier described the loss that the team suffered this evening to Umm Salal with disappointment. The coach said in a statement to the club’s official website after the end of the match: Despite our success in controlling the match from the beginning, we came out with a loss and Umm Salal was able to pull off one attack in the second half to achieve victory over us.

The coach added: Since the start of the match, we were the best and were able to control the maneuvering area and created a number of opportunities that were lost due to our lack of accuracy in the final touch. In the second half, Umm Salal was able, with one attack and a single shot, to score the winning goal, and although we tried to return to the match and pressed hard to reach the net, we were unable to do so and were not lucky in many cases.

Galtier concluded: There was a waste of opportunities and a lack of offensive tendency that allowed us to score, and we must work hard during the coming period. This defeat is a disappointment for us because we wanted to continue the league journey with a new victory.

The coach continued his speech, saying: We must bring back our absent players, and looking at the match we deserved the best because we did not deserve defeat, but unfortunately when you do not succeed in scoring, you concede goals and are exposed to a result other than the one you wanted to get. We must continue working, especially in the second half. Attacking in order to improve results and level in the upcoming matches.
